If I could create a new class in our school, I would do a fashion class. In this my students would learn how to sew, sketch different outfits, and learn what fabrics and materials that compliment each other. They would use their own style to design clothes for themselves and other students!
Our class would meet everyday. Every week on Monday the students will learn different stitches, and ways to sew their clothing. Then, on Tuesday they will take their sketching paper and design an outfit corresponding with the weather that week. On Wednesday they will pick out all of their fabric and materials and finally start sewing. Thursday and half Friday will be spent creating their new outfits, and then for the other half of Friday they will model their clothes to the class! All week long they are graded on their participation and technique, but never the way your clothes come out looking. Some might struggle, so I would not want to grade the students on something they can't do.
The room would be all white with black polka-dots, but one wall would be covered in chalk board paint so I could demonstrate the different designs we would be learning. Once you walk in, you would hear the sound of the sewing machines working, and scissors cutting. All the students would be working hard.
